Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) is a landmark targeted prevention program designed to improve the lives of vulnerable young first-time mothers and their children. The CHPC, in collaboration with McMaster University, is leading the first Canadian randomized controlled trial (RCT) evaluation of NFP in BC, entitled the BC Healthy Connections Project (BCHCP). Within the BCHCP, an additional project, entitled the Healthy Foundations Study aims to examine the impact of the NFP on biological outcomes (stress and immune system function) in a subset of women and their infants participating in the main study.

The CHPC is committed to life-long learning for all team members. Mentoring will be available to facilitate the successful candidates’ career development, with related educational opportunities being explicitly encouraged. These positions offer a unique opportunity to contribute to advancing the scholarly field of child health and public health policy in Canada.

Located at SFU’s downtown Vancouver Harbour Centre campus, the CHPC is an interdisciplinary research group whose work focuses on integrating research and policy to improve children’s social and emotional wellbeing. Our work complements the mission of the FHS to integrate research and policy for population and public health locally, nationally and globally.
