Tri-Agency Resources

The ORE provides resources for graduate students applying for funding through the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), and also UBC Affiliated Fellowships.

Specific information (such as eligibility, evaluation criteria, application procedures, nomination procedures, adjudication procedures, and profiles of award holders) regarding Tri-Agency funding can be found on the Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies website entries for SSHRC, CIHR, NSERC, CGS M, and UBC Affiliated Fellowships.

Our major event is the Graduate Student Tri-Agency Information Session, which occurs every July and October. Topics covered include what makes an excellent program of study description as part of your proposal, what should you include in your description of your track record, and what is the best way to interact with and approach referees.

If you can’t attend the event, you can find helpful resources linked to from within this post, including tips and best practices, samples of application materials, and frequently-asked questions.

For more information and further clarification, you can visit the websites for SSHRC, NSERC, CIHR, and UBC Affiliated Fellowships. The Graduate Program Assistants for each department are also available to answer your questions.
