PhD year 1 Connections Lunch Series + Webinar recordings

Are you a 1st year PhD Student?  If so, on Sept 10th you would have received an e-mail invitation from the Dean and Vice-Provost of Graduate Studies Dr. Susan Porter (via Lisa Pountney).  This message was inviting you to the PhD Connections Mentoring Lunch Series at St. John’s College.  This series began last spring and students loved it.  I encourage you to attend, meet fellow 1st year PhD students and have the opportunity to engage with senior UBC graduate students on topics related to making the most of your graduate school at UBC.  The first lunch is on Oct 6th and is an Indian buffet!

For more information, e-mail jacqui.brinkman@ubc.ca or register by Oct 2nd at http://stjohns.ubc.ca/phd-connections/

Undecided about attending?  Here are testimonials from last spring’s series:

“It’s a good place for 1-year PhD students to reach out and meet senior students for peer support”

“I got the chance to meet and discuss issues that I had during my grad studies, settling in Vancouver, etc.”

”It is nice to hear student from different backgrounds experiencing similar issued and how they are handling them”
