Northwest Association of Teacher Educators Conference (NWATE): Call for Proposals

The Essentials: What Should We Be Teaching

June 5th & 6th, 2014

Washington State University – Pullman, Washington

A special WELCOME: This year the NWATE board would like to enlarge participation in the annual 2014 conference by refining the concept of who are the “teacher educators.”  We want to extend a special invitation for attendance and participation in the conference by inviting inservice teachers who have served as cooperating teachers and mentor teachers to pre-service teachers and beginning teachers, as well as college and university teacher educators who work directly with pre-service and beginning inservice teachers. We also welcome teacher educators who are researchers and administrators in teacher preparation programs, as well as community-based organizations with vested interest in our schools, our teachers and our youth.

This announcement serves as the “call for proposals” – join us in sharing your respective work in areas related to the conference theme. We hope to provide a forum that inspires participants to tap into what most deeply informs and empowers our work, and to come together to share in dialogue.  Especially in view of unprecedented changes in educational reform, we welcome submissions for conference sessions that focus on what attendees believe are among the most essential elements (core practices or competencies) of pre-service teacher preparation and/or inservice teacher education (professional development).
