UBC MOOC – Reconciliation through Indigenous Education

The Faculty of Education is delivering the second offering of the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) titled “Reconciliation Through Indigenous Education”.

This is a free 6-week online course that begins on September 29, 2015. Explore strategies, exemplars, and resources that support the teaching and learning of indigenous ways of knowing in classrooms, schools and communities.

Join Dr. Jan Hare, Professor of Indigenous Education, to learn about Indigenous Education through the lens of reconciliation. Participants will engage with educational leaders and resources that provide direction for how education programs and teaching practices can be modified in order to meaningfully integrate Indigenous knowledge worldviews and pedagogies in classrooms, schools and communities.

This course will help you envision how Indigenous ways of knowing, content, perspectives, and pedagogies can be made part of classrooms, schools, and communities in ways that are thoughtful and respectful. This is an approach that more and more educators see as far more likely to ensure the success of Indigenous learners, as well as enhance the learning experiences of all students.
