The UBC Learning Exchange (http://learningexchange.ubc.ca/) is seeking a graduate research assistant (GRA) at Masters or PhD level to be the evaluator for a new three-year initiative, Seniors Thrive.
Working under the direction of the Learning Exchange Academic Director and an advisory group, the GRA is expected to:
- Conduct a literature search on research related to culturally relevant senior learning.
- Create an evaluation framework for the pilot.
- Set up systems to track and document the process and outcomes, including health benefits to seniors, in a systematic and rigorous manner.
- Collect quantitative and qualitative data through record keeping, surveys, interviews and focus groups.
- Manage ethical issues such as confidentiality and consent.
- Review the data and draft descriptions of outcomes for review by the project team.
- Assist the team to make improvements for the next phase of the project based on the evaluation findings.
- Assist with the dissemination of results and insights locally, nationally and internationally.
The student is expected to work approximately 20 hours per week. A stipend of $1700/month is available for three years. It is expected that the project will start in September 2015.
