The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (BC & Yukon) is launching an initiative to start tackling the issue of marketing of unhealthy foods that targets children and youth. Marketing practices designed to manipulate youth into eating or drinking damaging products have reached unacceptable levels.
The Heart and Stroke Foundation is looking for a Youth Engagement Coordinator to activate BC teens around this issue. We are looking for a charismatic champion who has experience presenting to and mobilizing teenagers. We need someone with superb communications skills who is at ease ‘cold-calling’ high school club leaders, and pitching the opportunity for a presentation to their club. We are searching for a Coordinator who has a strong passion for creating healthier communities and a healthier food system, and whose passion and enthusiasm for this cause are contagious.
The Coordinator will be able to tap into Heart and Stroke Foundation tools and resources to facilitate youth outreach. For example, they will be able to use a campaign website and related multimedia tools designed specifically for teens. He/she will also have access to a small budget for travel, supplies or others to support youth organizing at various schools.
To apply, please send a cover letter and resume to: healthpromotion@hsf.bc.cano later than Sunday, October 27, 2013.
Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. Interviews will likely take place on October 30 and 31.
