Research Assistant needed: Division of Health Care Communication in the College of Health Disciplines

The Division of Health Care Communication in the College of Health Disciplines is seeking a Work Learn student to assist with coordinating our “Talk to Your Doc” High School program and other projects related to informed and shared decision making in health care. The assistant will work with the Division of Health Care Communication team and associates (medical educators, social scientists, allied health professionals, patients and community organizations, school counselors, health science students). This is a job for someone with an interest in the interfaces of health care, education and social sciences. The assistants will assist with collecting information about health care communications from individuals and groups in the community. Depending on interests and experience, tasks may include: liaising with stakeholder parties in the university and community at large; participant recruitment; assisting with delivery and evaluation of educational programs; interviewing patients and health care professionals; administering forms and surveys and summarizing responses; organizing research meetings, workshops, symposiums, forums and/or conferences; identifying and applying for community funding sources, and website maintenance.  For more information about the Division please go to our website: http://www.chd.ubc.ca/dhcc/

Qualifications: project coordination experience; qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills; well-developed organizational skills; experience liaising with a range of community groups; experience in project management; experience interviewing others.

Hours: 10 hours / week (flexible with student schedules)

Wage: $19.84/hour
