2018 SSHRC Insight Grant

Insight Grants support research excellence in the social sciences and humanities. Funding is available to both emerging and established scholars for long-term research initiatives of three to five years.

MSFHR Implementation Science Team Program

The MSFHR Implementation Science Team (IST) Program is a new funding opportunity designed to support the implementation and adoption of evidence-based, implementation-ready interventions that will improve the quality and effectiveness of health, health services and care in BC.
Value:
The IST competition consists of two phases, a Development Grant ($10,000) and a Project Grant ($500,000).

2018 MSFHR Research Trainee Competition

The MSFHR 2018 Research Trainee competition supports BC health researchers in the training phase of their research career.
Value:
Each Research Trainee award provides funding for up to three years to help protect time for health research activities, enable career development and support the long-term success of the BC health research landscape.

Cofund on Sex, Gender and UN Sustainable Development Goals

CIHR is part of an international consortium (GENDER-NET Plus), which will support research that explores the importance of sex and gender in health. GENDER-NET Plus will take the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a point of departure for the topics of this call.
Value:
The total amount available for Canadian researchers from CIHR is $1.5 million CAD, enough to fund five (5) grants. The maximum amount available is $100,000 CAD per year for up to three (3) years for a total of $300,000 CAD, per grant.

Full application deadline to CIHR: July 16, 2018

CIHR Spring 2018 Project Grant

The CIHR Project Grant program is designed to capture ideas with the greatest potential for important advances in fundamental or applied health-related knowledge, the health care system, and/or health outcomes, by supporting projects with a specific purpose and a defined endpoint. The best ideas may stem from new, incremental, innovative, and/or high-risk lines of inquiry or knowledge translation approaches.
Value:
The combined total amount available for CIHR’s 2017-18 Investigator Initiated Research Programs (which will include the Project Grant: Fall 2017 and Spring 2018, and Foundation Grant: 2017-18 competitions) is approximately $575M. The proportion of investment between the Project Grant and Foundation Grant programs is under review.

Canadian Science Policy Fellowship

The Canadian Science Policy Fellowship is now accepting applications from prospective fellows interested in undertaking a 12-month policy project with a Canadian government host office.
Value:
Approved fellows receive remuneration from their host offices and professional development training and networking events facilitated by Mitacs.
