Nov 18: Email Dawn Whitworth your draft proposal (with full budget; without support letters) for mandatory UBC Internal Selection Committee review and Robert Olaj for OGPR mandatory internal review and feedback. Also, email Beth Haverkamp, with copy to Robert Olaj, a completed Faculty Partnership Information Questionnaire.
Dec 15: Comments supplied from the Internal Selection Committee and the OGPR
Jan (mid): Internal support letters provided by SPARC
Feb 10: OGPR deadline for faculty-level signature. Email Robert Olaj a copy of your application and completed RPIF.
Feb 11: ORS deadline for RPIF and institutional sign-off.
Feb 15: SSHRC Partnership Grant LOI deadline

Special notes:

This is a highly time consuming and complex institutional (i.e. UBC is the applicant – not the researcher) grant to coordinate between many internal and external constituent groups. Resource contributions from your Department and the Faculty are critical and take time to negotiate. Please contact Robert Olaj in the OGPR as early as possible if you are thinking of applying for a PG or if you are considering being a Co-Applicant on a PG. 35% cash and/or in-kind contributions (http://www.sshrc-crsh.gc.ca/funding-financement/policies-politiques/cash_inkind-especes_en_nature-eng.aspx) required. Projects must fall under SSHRC’s Subject Matter Eligibility Guidelines.

Aug 12: SPARC IR: Email Danica Kell in SPARC your full draft. Please copy Robert Olaj if you are interested in OGPR IR (Optional).
Aug 24: OGPR IR (Optional). Email full draft for OGPR IR to Robert Olaj (for those not participating in SPARC IR).
Aug 30: Receive SPARC IR reviewer feedback.
Sept 8: OGPR Insight Intensive workshop: Working on summary & budget in groups.
Sept 23: Receive OGPR IR feedback.
10:00 a.m. Oct 8: Submit application and completed RPIF to Robert Olaj in the OGPR for Faculty-level signature (all faculty, except those in KIN) and for administrative review only (completeness, signatures and budget commitments).
4:00 p.m. Oct 9: UBC ORS deadline for you to hit “Submit” online and for the OGPR to provide UBC/ORS with your completed RPIF and a copy of your proposal

Special notes:

A Notice of Intent stage has been eliminated. Canadian Common CV will not be used for this competition. Collaborators will receive an invitation to complete a “profile” (not a whole SSHRC CV). Projects must fall under SSHRC’s Subject Matter Eligibility Guidelines. A reminder that applicants who applied to the 2015 Insight Development Grants are not eligible for the fall 2015 Insight Grants competition, irrespective of the outcomes of the IDG competition.

Special notes:

Applicants are advised to start working with their Partners in the summer, as the process of negotiating objectives, how the Partner organizations will participate (i.e. what they will do), and of what their cash or in-kind contributions will consist takes a significant amount of time. Projects must fall under SSHRC’s Subject Matter Eligibility Guidelines.
