Value: The total amount available for this funding opportunity is $1,270,000. The maximum amount per grant varies by Institute/Initiative but will not exceed $25,000 and is for up to one (1) year.

Details: CIHR’s mandate is to excel in the creation of new knowledge and its translation into improved health, more effective health services and products, and a strengthened health care system through a unique interdisciplinary structure made up of virtual Institutes and Initiatives. The Institutes and Initiatives are networks of researchers and stakeholders brought together to focus on important health problems, with each Institute/Initiative dedicated to a specific area of focus, linking and supporting researchers pursuing common goals. The Planning and Dissemination Grants are intended to provide support for planning and/or dissemination activities consistent with the mandate of CIHR and relevant to CIHR Institutes, or Initiatives.

Objectives:

  • To support planning activities, partnership development and/or increasing understanding of the health research landscape that will contribute to the advancement of research consistent with the mandate of CIHR
  • To support dissemination events/activities that focus on the communication of health research evidence to the appropriate researcher and/or knowledge user audience(s), tailoring the message and medium as appropriate.

Note: This funding opportunity is not intended to support the direct cost of research (e.g., pilot projects, feasibility studies or operating grants), principal and co-investigator salaries or research equipment. Please also note that primary research or primary data collection will not be supported through this funding opportunity. Any activity that may be perceived as such should be justified (e.g., surveying individuals for the purpose of the project).
