CATE Award for Excellence in Research in Teacher Education

- Feb 18: Email Robert Olaj to alert him that you are interested in nominating someone, or having yourself nominated for this award.
ORS deadline to hit “Submit” online and email ORS your RPIF and the PDF of your application.
- Mar 18: CATE submission deadline.
Special notes: Candidates do not need to be CATE members, but must be nominated by a member of CATE. The application must include two additional letters of recommendation from people associated with at least one other institution. However, these people do not need to be CATE members.
SSHRC Impact Awards
Sponsor: Social Science Humanities Research Council (SSHRC)
Internal Review (IR) and Nominations deadlines:
- Feb 5: Deadline to alert the OGPR about a potential nomination.
- Feb 18: Deadline for the Faculty to submit to the VPRI a 500 word summary on why the individual or team should be considered for this award (please review SSHRC’s selection criteria when writing the 500-word rationale). An updated SSHRC CV must also be submitted.
- Apr 5: SSHRC deadline.

- April 1: Email Robert Olaj (OGPR) to alert him that you intend to participate in OGPR IR.
- April 18: Email Robert Olaj Robert Olaj a draft PDF and Word copy of your full proposal for OGPR IR.
- April 28, Noon: OGPR internal signature deadline. Applicants should email Robert Olaj a PDF of their proposal with a completed, signed, and scanned ORS Research Project Information Form . RPIFs will be returned to you if your application is in order and once the Associate Dean has signed off.
- April 28, 4:00 p.m. : ORS deadline to hit ‘Submit’ online and email ORS your RPIF and the PDF of your application.
- May 2: SSHRC national deadline (subsequent rounds: May 1, Aug. 1, Nov. 1)
Special notes:See above for requisite 50% matching requirement. Applicants/project directors or Co-Applicants on any project funded through a SSHRC Connection Grant that is still active are not eligible to apply for an individual Connection Grant. Co-Applicants for Connections Grants (only) may be from non-academic organizations.
2016 SSHRC Connections Grant Award!
Congratulations to Drs. Jim Anderson (LLED) and Theresa Rogers (LLED), along with their colleague Dr. Suzanne Smythe at SFU, for being awarded a $22,600 SSHRC Connections Grant in the program’s latest competition.
