Insight Grant Bootcamps
These bootcamp sessions include short-presentations on the modules being covered, writing prompts, Q&A, and dedicated time for participants to work on drafting their proposal. The modules covered are: Summary, KMP, EOS, Student Training, and Funds Requested from SSHRC/Budget Justification

Internal Peer Review: August
SPARC matches up applicants with UBC faculty who have been successful in obtaining SSHRC funding and/or have sat on SSHRC review committees to provide one-on-one written feedback.
- Wednesday, August 6, 2025, by 5pm: Register online (registration includes submission of 1-Page Summary)
- Friday, August 15, 2025, by 3:30pm: Submit Full Proposal
- Friday, August 29, 2025: Receive Peer Feedback
SPARC Review: September
Applicants are invited to submit their Insight Grant materials (both individual modules and full proposals are accepted) for review by members of the SPARC team.
- Submit your application to Robert Olaj in ORE by or before Wednesday, September 17, 2025, 12pm, and he will forward it on to the SPARC team.
SPARC staff will endeavour to return feedback to Robert Olaj in ORE on the One Page Summary and Budget modules no later than Mon. Sept. 22 at 12pm, and he will forward it to applicants, in order to give applicants time to incorporate suggestions prior to the ORS RPIF deadline (see below). Feedback on all remaining modules will be returned by Friday, September 26 at 12pm, allowing time for incorporation of feedback prior to the internal e-submission deadline (see below).
Reviews are offered on a first come, first serve basis, as capacity allows.

Deadline to email Robert Olaj in ORE or Kathy Manson in KIN (for Kinesiology applicants) a signed UBC RPIF (applicant and department head/director) )and a SSHRC-generated PDF of your application.
OSE applicants please contact UBC-O's Office of Research Services for internal deadlines.
MAC users - do not use MAC's native PDF viewer, Preview, to open or manipulate the RPIF. That will corrupt the form. Rather use Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
Please email signed (applicant, department head/School Director, and ADR/School Director) RPIF along with a pdf of your application to UBC-V ORS. You may continue to work on the narrative sections of the application until the deadline to hit "Submit" online (the "e-submit" deadline). However, please note that project titles and budget totals must not be changed from the submitted RPIF.
(note: Tuesday, September 30 is a statutory holiday and UBC will be closed)
To e-submit, complete and attach all the forms as described in the program instructions. Also, ensure that all Co-Applicants and Collaborators have electronically accepted and verified their invitation to participate in the application. Then “Verify” and correct any reported errors online until the resultant Verification Report indicates successful verification. Then click “Submit” to submit your application to UBC ORS for institutional approval.
