Congratulations to Dr. Shannon Leddy and team for being awarded $15,000 in Public Humanities Hub Research Cluster Grants

A warm congratulations to Dr. Shannon Leddy, Associate Professor in EDCP and her team for being one of two UBC teams awarded $15,000 Public Humanities Hub Research Cluster Grants in the most recent cluster competition. The PHH Research Cluster Grants are designed to support interdisciplinary research cluster development among Humanities scholars in the Faculties of Arts and Education and the Allard School of Law at UBC-V. The grants are intended to promote research activity and collaboration among humanities scholars at UBC and beyond and to help collaborators leverage funding to secure additional support.

The project abstract:

PI: Dr. Shannon Leddy, Associate Professor of Teaching, Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy (EDCP), Faculty of Education.
Title: Circumpolar Indigenous Storytelling
Abstract: This cluster seeks to unite scholars from across faculties at UBC whose research is situated in or pertains to the circumpolar north and connect them with colleagues from Greenland, the UK, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland. The Circumpolar Indigenous Storytelling Research Cluster aims to surface and strengthen connections between Indigenous peoples in the circumpolar region whose histories have been marked differently by the nation states that colonized them but who share common narratives of oppression and survivance with Indigenous communities in North America.

Congratulations Dr. Leddy, and we wish you and your team success on this outstanding interdisciplinary project!
