International Research Roundtable Program

Note: The 2016 program has not been confirmed at the time of this posting. Please check the PWAIS website closer to the end of 2015.

Value: Up to five International Research Roundtables will be awarded annually. The award will support meeting expenses for a Roundtable at the Peter Wall Institute in Vancouver, Canada, for two to five days. The proposed budget may range from $20,000 to $45,000. Award funds may be used to cover accommodation, meals and travel costs, for up to 20 participants for the duration of the Roundtable.

Objectives:
• To advance excellence in knowledge development in an interdisciplinary environment around broad-ranging themes.
• To foster excellence in research, and serve as a catalyst for collaborative research between international scholars and UBC scholars.
• To provide scholars, community leaders, artists, policy makers and others the opportunity to explore a theme, create the foundation for innovative research, prompt important advances in science and society, and/or have a significant impact on the discovery of solutions to important problems.

Internal Review (IR) and Application deadlines:

  • Monday April 11th: Contact OGPR if you wish to participate in IR.
  • Monday April 18th: Email your draft application to OGPR for internal review and feedback.
  • Thursday April 28th, Noon: OGPR internal signature deadline. Applicants should email OGPR a copy of their application with a completed, signed, and scanned ORS Research Project Information Form. RPIFs will be returned to you if your application is in order and once the Associate Dean has signed off.
  • Sunday May 1st: Deadline to submit a signed original application and RPIF to PWIAS (see instructions for address) and an electronic version (PDF) to Bernadette Mah, Program Manager
