Value: Maximum amount for a knowledge synthesis is $100,000 for up to 1 year | Maximum amount for a scoping review is $50,000 for up to 1 year | $1.5 Million available, enough to fund approx. 15 grants

Objectives: i) To increase the uptake/application of synthesized knowledge in decision-making by supporting partnerships between researchers and knowledge users to produce scoping reviews and syntheses that respond to the information needs of knowledge users in all areas of health; and ii) to extend the benefits of knowledge synthesis to new kinds of questions relevant to knowledge users and areas of research that have not traditionally been synthesized.

Application deadlines:

  • November 13: OGPR deadline for faculty-level signature.
  • November 14: ORS deadline for institutional signature & e-approval
  • November 17: CIHR national deadline

Special notes: For your application to be eligible, it must include at least two project leaders: one independent researcher and one knowledge user. CIHR strongly recommends that each team include a content expert, an expert in synthesis methods and an information scientist/librarian. Applications are submitted via ResearchNet and electronically approved and submitted to CIHR by ORS on behalf of the applicant.
