Degree: Graduated with a PhD in Kinesiology (2010)
Bio: My PhD examined how adults learn new movements by studying changes to brain and muscle patterns during physical practice, observation and imagery. The funding received during my PhD was critical to my success in the program as it allowed me the opportunity to focus full-time on my studies and complete my degree debt-free. I am currently employed as Chair and faculty member in the Department of Kinesiology at Langara College in Vancouver. As a faculty member, I have been able to positively impact the educational career of thousands of undergraduate students in the field of Kinesiology. As Department Chair I have developed and implemented many impactful educational initiatives such as scholarship opportunities, curriculum development, policy changes, new testing facilities, and increased transferability for students. I have also successfully continued as an active researcher in my area of expertise, maintaining my academic links with UBC while also collaborating with prestigious National and International researchers.
