Congratulations to Annette Henry for receiving an Equity Enhancement Grant!

Annette Henry (LLED)
Race Literacies: A Black Canadian Scholars’ Series to Promote Transformative Curricula and Research
The award consists of $15,375. An interdisciplinary group of black scholars at UBC – Annette Henry (LLED), Handel Wright (EDST), Denise da Silva, Phanuel Antwi will be hosting and moderating four forums in 2015/2016. At each forum, two renowned scholars will be invited to UBC to share their work, and engage in dialogue with each other and the audience. We hope that this series will be the first of many, and that we can continue the work of transformative research and curricula on Black Canadian Studies through future summer institutes.

The goals of this project include:

  • Providing a forum to engage in critical dialogue, transformative curricula and research and innovative analyses.
  • Broadening our research and teaching communities across UBC disciplines and beyond UBC walls.
  • Tapping into the already established UBC network of transdisciplinary African Canadian scholars and extend to scholars across the country.
  •
