Value: Stage 1: Letter of Intent Up to $20,000. Stage 2: Formal Application (by invitation) $500,000 to $2.5 million, with lower or higher amounts considered. 4 to 7 years.
A minimum 35% match to the amount requested from SSHRC is required in cash or in-kind.
Objectives: To support new and existing formal partnerships over four to seven years to advance research, research training and/or knowledge mobilization in the social sciences and humanities through mutual co-operation and sharing of intellectual leadership, as well as through resources as evidenced by cash and/or in-kind contributions.

- Monday September 14th: SPARC Test Your Concept Panel Opportunity. Email one-page summary to Dawn Whitworth (SPARC) and Robert Olaj Robert Olaj
- Monday September 21st: Week of Test Your Concept panel meetings
- Wednesday November 18th: Email Dawn Whitworth your draft proposal (with full budget; without support letters) for mandatory UBC Internal Selection Committee review and Robert Olaj for OGPR mandatory internal review and feedback. Also, email Beth Haverkamp, with copy to Robert Olaj, a completed Faculty Partnership Information Questionnaire.
- Tuesday December 15th: Comments supplied from the Internal Selection Committee and the OGPR
- January (mid): Internal support letters provided by SPARC
- Wednesday February 10th: OGPR deadline for faculty-level signature. Email Robert Olaj a copy of your application and completed RPIF.
- Thursday February 11th: ORS deadline for RPIF and institutional sign-off.
- Monday February 15th: SSHRC Partnership Grant LOI deadline
Special notes:
- This is a highly time consuming and complex institutional (i.e. UBC is the applicant – not the researcher) grant to coordinate between many internal and external constituent groups. Resource contributions from your Department and the Faculty are critical and take time to negotiate. Please contact Robert Olaj in the OGPR as early as possible if you are thinking of applying for a PG or if you are considering being a Co-Applicant on a PG. 35% cash and/or in-kind contributions required. Projects must fall under SSHRC’s Subject Matter Eligibility Guidelines.
