Value: $75,000 to $200,000. 1 to 3 years.

Objectives: Develop research and related activities in the social sciences and humanities, including knowledge mobilization and the meaningful involvement of students and new scholars, by fostering new partnerships for research and related activities involving existing and/or potential partners; or
Design and test new partnership approaches for research and/or related activities that may result in best practices or models that either can be adapted by others or have the potential to be scaled up to a regional, national or international level.

Application deadlines:

  • Monday August 17th: Email Heather Frost in the OGPR indicating your interest in applying.
  • Wednesday October 14th: Email Dawn Whitworth at SPARC indicating desire for SPARC internal review (SPARC IR is optional).
  • Friday October 16th: Email Beth Haverkamp, with copy to Heather Frost, the draft of your proposal (including full budget) and a completed Faculty Partnership Information Questionnaire. This is mandatory, as:
  • 1) A Faculty support letter strengthens your proposal and only through reading the proposal can a substantive letter be developed; and,
  • 2) The proposal (including the budget) will form part of the assessment of whether scarce Faculty-level resources will be committed to your project.
  • Wednesday October 21st: Email Dawn Whitworth at SPARC a 1 pg. summary of your project (SPARC IR optional).
  • Wednesday October 28th: Email Dawn Whitworth at SPARC your full proposal draft for internal review (SPARC IR optional).
  • Wednesday November 25th: OGPR deadline for faculty-level signature. Email Heather Frost a copy of your application and completed RPIF.
  • Thursday November 26th: UBC/ORS RPIF and application submission deadline.

Special notes:

  • Applicants are advised to start working with their Partners in the summer, as the process of negotiating objectives, how the Partner organizations will participate (i.e. what they will do), and of what their cash or in-kind contributions will consist takes a significant amount of time. Projects must fall under SSHRC’s Subject Matter Eligibility Guidelines.
