Value: Solutions projects may apply for $25,000 to $50,000 for one year. Larger budgets may be considered if additional partner contributions are available. Institute staff will work with applicants to identify potential funding partners. Projects will be funded on a one-year basis but you may include up to 3-year plan. Renewal is based on funding availability.
Objectives: For UBC researchers to harness high-level research to the practical needs of local, national or international community partners. For UBC researchers engage with end-users or community partners to develop innovative research solutions that can be adopted by those end-users or other target communities. In some cases this may require additional research or even open up new research questions, but the emphasis of the program is on concrete solutions to pressing problems. The Institute encourages projects with a transformative vision.
Projects must demonstrate active participation and engagement from a targeted end-user or community (projects must have a Co-Applicant from the end-user community). Projects will be actively managed for achievement of specified milestones, and will be monitored semi-annually.
