UBC Public Humanities Hub Research Cluster Grants

Program Link: www.publichumanities.ubc.ca/programs/research-clusters/

Sponsor: UBC Public Humanities Hub

Value: Up to $15,000

Description: Fostering collaboration is a central priority in UBC’s new strategic plan. The Public Humanities Hub offers support for interdisciplinary research cluster development among Humanities scholars in the Faculties of Arts, Law, and Education at UBC-V and encourages these clusters, once established, to seek additional funding in the form of VPRI-funded Grants for Catalyzing Research Clusters or SSHRC.

The Public Humanities Hub Research Cluster grants are intended to promote interdisciplinary research activity and communication among humanities scholars at UBC and to help collaborators secure additional funding; Hub cluster grants can serve, for example, as matching funds in SSHRC Connection Grant applications or Partnership applications. A “cluster” does not need to be huge; it should ideally consist of at least two Humanities faculty members and may also include graduate students and non-Humanities faculty. Each PHH Research Cluster Grant can be for up to $15,000. A total of $75,000 is available each year.

Applicants must upload CVs (PDF or Word) of all Cluster members, a Research Project Information Form for the Principal Investigator (signed by the PIs Head and the Associate Dean Research), along with a completed application form, signed by the PI and your Department/Unit Head, at the following link: https://phh.air.arts.ubc.ca/public-humanities-hub-research-cluster-grant-competition-2021-22/
