Description: The DG program supports ongoing programs of research with long-term goals rather than a single short-term project or collection of projects. These grants recognize the creativity and innovation that are at the heart of all research advances. DGs are typically five years in duration and are considered “grants in aid” of research, as they provide long-term operating funds and can facilitate access to funding from other programs but are not meant to support the full costs of a research program.
This is a reminder that the NSERC Discovery Grant NOI deadline is approaching. NOIs must be submitted directly by applicants no later than 5pm PST on August 1. ORS does not forward NOIs (unlike the full application), and no RPIF is needed at this time. Once you’ve submitted you will receive a confirmation message on the web page, as well as a confirmation email that your NOI was received and that the status of your submission is Received by Agency.
If you are eligible and are electing to take the one-year extension with funds due to COVID, or otherwise do not intend to apply this year, please ignore this message.

ORE internal signature deadline for RPIFs. Applicants please email Robert Olaj your signed (applicant and department head) RPIF + a pdf of your application. OSE applicants please contact UBC-O's Office of Research Services for internal deadlines.
Deadline to submit RPIF to ORS
Please email signed (applicant, department head, and ADR) RPIF along with a pdf of your application to ORS (ors@ors.ubc.ca). You may continue to work on the narrative sections of the application until the deadline to hit "Submit" online. However, please note that budget totals must not be changed from the submitted RPIF.
